Our Mission
To empower youth in Baltimore City and County through scholarship assistance, resources, and support to create an individualized and sustainable career plan promoting a stable future.
Our Vision
Every youth has access, options, and support to build a promising future for themselves and their families.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Every child needs support and encouragement to reach their fullest potential. Growing up in Baltimore, we were extremely fortunate to surpass our obstacles by having a strong supportive system to help us achieve our goals to succeed in life, but many of our youth today do not have these support systems. Our youth are facing many challenges and our communities are plagued with its’ own challenges, disrupting support systems. This has inspired us to start The Sye of Relief Foundation LLC.
Our goal is to be an extension of the village and provide support for our youth in Baltimore City and County. Knowing the importance of mentorship and education, The Sye of Relief Foundation LLC will provide the support services and scholarship opportunities necessary for youth to excel beyond their current circumstances. We believe that this is achievable because no matter what it may look like, God’s desire is to fulfill His promises to all of us just as He said He would for the Israelites in Jeremiah 29:11.

What We Offer
As an extension of the "village", we want to provide youth with options for support services and access to scholarships they will need to be successful.
Support Services
We believe in a wholistic approach to support youth's goals to achieve successful outcomes. Support services can provide the additional assistance youth need as they navigate planning for their future.
Scholarships
Scholarships are financial resources to activate a youth's plan for their future. The Sye of Relief Charitable Organization Inc. provides access to a variety of scholarship options that will support the youth's individualized educational and career goals.

Michael Sye
Co-Founder
Prior to founding The Sye of Relief Foundation, LLC, Michael Sye is the Coordinator of Athletics for the Baltimore County Public Schools System. The Baltimore County Public Schools System is the 26th largest school system in the U.S., and the 3rd largest in Maryland. Michael oversees every aspect of the BCPS athletic programs for 24 high schools and 27 middle schools. This program directly impacts over 13,000 student athletes of which 11,000 are high school students and more than 2,000 middle school students. Michael received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Delaware in 1995 and his Masters in Education with a concentration in Leadership of Educational Organizations from American Intercontinental University in 2008.
Rachel A. Sye
Co-Founder
Rachel Sye is the Deputy Director at TurnAround Inc., a non-profit that provides advocacy and support to thousands of survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in Baltimore County and Baltimore City each year. She is an active member of various committees and task forces in the State of Maryland including the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force and the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office Human Trafficking Collaborative whose role is to improve services for survivors at the system level. Rachel has worked in the non-profit sector advocating for vulnerable groups over 20 years.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Towson State University in 1996 and her master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University in 2010. Born and raised in Baltimore City, she was a teen parent and today is the proud mother of three. She is a Believer in Christ and a former singer of Baltimore’s own Voices of Heaven 600 Gospel Choir.
